Dot IT Domains
Introduced in 1987, Italy’s dot IT country-specific domain is quite popular both locally and in the English-speaking world. The reason is that the domain is a pronoun, which can be used for building imaginative and interesting domain names – write.it, youcanmake.it and so on. This is a way to construct an easy-to-remember domain name, so that it will be easier for your visitors to go back to your website or to share it with colleagues and fellows. The domain extension can also be used for a website, which is linked to the technology sector taking into account that IT is an abbreviation, which is well-known worldwide.
Having in mind the fact that dot IT domains are not sold directly by IT-NIC, the Registry that administrates this top-level domain extension, such a domain can be registered through a 3rd-party registration provider, such as ours. We will handle the registration process for you and take care of submitting your application to the Registry organization. You can secure a dot IT domain for 1 year at a time, and the domains are transferable, so you can move your existing domain over to our company and we will renew it once the transfer has been done. The only prerequisite is that the person reserving such a domain has to be located in a country from the European Union.
As there are existing 2nd-level Domains that include names of different areas and localities in Italy reserved for local third-level registrations, new names that include geographical areas of any sort are not allowed on any level to avoid any future confusion. We do not support such third-level domains, though, because they can be registered only by locals.
