An access log is a detailed list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a given Internet site. Every file that was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have one page with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for each of the 6 files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the webpage. A log usually provides the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Occasionally you may also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your website. The information that an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to write reports on the performance of a website, aside from the web stats your web hosting server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Web Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia CP has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your cloud web hosting account and visit this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button that will be available next to every single domain/subdomain. If the option is enabled, you'll see a download link and also the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your computer and view it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective immediately, so if you don't need one, you'll be able to stop it with only a click from the same exact section of the CP. You shall still have the ability to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our sophisticated hosting platform shall create access logs for each website hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, provided that this function is activated. All domain names and subdomains that you have will be listed inside the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, that we offer with all of the accounts, so if you would like our system to start generating logs for each of them, you should just click on the little button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You could deactivate this function at any time by following the very same steps. You will find a Download link for each log inside the same exact section of the CP, so you will be able to save the content produced by our system in .txt format with no more than a click. An existing log file can be downloaded even after the option has been deactivated, so you will still be able to check out the data that's already been generated.
